As a player and a manager, Fabio Grosso cries. The sight of the Italian full back in tears seconds after scoring the goal to send the Azzurri into the final of the 2006 World Cup remains one of the most iconic in the history of the country’s national team. For Frosinone fans, Grosso crying in the dressing room as his team celebrated promotion to Serie A was just as memorable. 

“You’ve been special. At all times, in every moment,” Grosso told his players through tears after a 3-1 home win over Reggina secured Frosinone’s return back to the Italian top flight. Nobody in that dressing room, though, has been more special than Grosso, now considered one of the best young coaches in the country.
