Welsh champions The New Saints are making their mark in the Conference League!
The most successful team in Welsh football don’t even play in Wales.
Shropshire in England is home to the club that has won the Cymru Premier (Wales’ top division) title more times than any other - The New Saints.
Wales’ biggest clubs (Cardiff City, Swansea City and Wrexham) play in the English league system, meaning the country’s own domestic division is an unusual mix of professional and part time teams.
Attendances at matches rarely break four figures.
Despite this lack of glamour, The New Saints (or TNS, as they’re widely known), are enjoying the big time this season.
By qualifying for this season’s UEFA Conference, they became the first domestic Welsh club to make the group/league phase of a continental competition. They are history makers.
It’s just a shame nobody in Wales likes them.
