Federico Redondo was one of the best players at this summer’s Under-20 World Cup, although not many noticed. He didn’t catch the eye. That’s not what he does.

In fact, the less you notice Redondo, the better, generally. It was the same for Sergio Busquets, the player many have compared the young Argentine midfielder to.

“You watch the game, you don’t see him. You watch him, you see the whole game,” Vicente del Bosque once famously said about Busquets and similar has been said about Redondo.

Fernando Redondo also played at the base of the midfield and Redondo Jnr has clearly learned a lot from his father.

Where, however, will that step take him?
