You know the stereotypes. They are the neutrals. The country with such little sense of national identity that it speaks the language of all the other countries around them.

This stereotyping extends to the perception of Switzerland’s national team. What does Swiss football stand for? Nobody seems to know.

While the Nati have a strong tournament record few consider them big hitters. Even fewer see them as entertainers.

However, Murat Yakin’s team are the most misunderstood team at Euro 2024. Switzerland are shape-shifters that would have won Group A over hosts Germany had it not been for a stoppage time Niclas Fullkrug goal.

Far from being boring, Switzerland deserve your attention for what they’re doing at this tournament.
