🇸🇦 Saudi Arabia are relying on an old friend to save their 2026 World Cup campaign
The 2034 hosts are facing a make-or-break stretch in qualification!
Saudi Arabia, despite exiting in the group stage, made a memorable impact on the last World Cup.
The Green Falcons produced the tournament’s biggest upset - and possibly the biggest upset in World Cup history - by beating Argentina in their opening fixture.
Lionel Messi and co. went on to lift the trophy in Qatar, but Saudi Arabia’s victory was emblematic of a growing football nation.
That growth, however, has been seriously stunted by a messy 2026 World Cup qualification campaign. It is far from certain that Argentina’s conquerors will be in the USA, Canada and Mexico next summer.
For all the billions being pumped into all areas of the game in Saudi Arabia, the country is relying on an old friend in a crisp white shirt to rescue them.
