🇮🇹 Pisa could be back in Serie A soon as a symbol of how Italian football is changing

It would take the average tourist a long time to mention football when listing the things that make Pisa special.
The Tuscan city is home to arguably Italy’s most iconic landmark - the Leaning Tower of Pisa. It also has the Scuola Normale Superiore, the institution founded by Napoleon in 1810 considered to be one of the best universities in the world.Â
Pisa Sporting Club, however, haven’t played in Italy’s top division since 1991. The Nerazzurri have spent the last 34 years in the lower leagues, even dropping as low as the fifth tier after bankruptcy.
As things stand, though, Pisa will be back in the big time next season with Filippo Inzaghi’s team currently sitting top of Serie B.Â
Their promotion to Serie A three years after moving into foreign ownership would follow a trend that has reshaped Italian football in recent times, but also set a new precedent for small clubs aiming to make it big.
