Only one of world footballâs six confederations doesnât have a professional league.
Football in Oceania isnât easy. The OFC is made up of 13 different island nations, many of which are themselves a scattering of islands. Tonga, for example, has 171 different islands spread over 700,000km in the southern Pacific Ocean.
Despite the obvious challenges, though, there are plans for a new professional league in footballâs forgotten region - an Oceania Super League officially called the OFC Professional League.
24 clubs from eight different nations have expressed their interest in joining the new division which will kick off in January 2026.
Could this be the catalyst for football in Oceania to enter the modern age?
