🇮🇪 Cup glory might not be enough to solve Cork City’s existential crisis
Sunday's FAI Cup final will be played against a background of anger and protest!
The cup and relegation double is a rarity in football.
Wigan Athletic did it 2013, beating Manchester City in the FA Cup final three days before dropping out of the Premier League. In 2011, Birmingham City also lifted the League Cup in the same season they were relegated.
Cork City could be next to experience the highest of highs and the lowest of lows in the same season.
Already relegated from the Irish top flight, The Rebel Army will take on Shamrock Rovers in Sunday’s FAI Cup final. Victory would give the club from the south of Ireland a day to remember.
Yet cup glory won’t solve the existential crisis that has engulfed Cork City.
