Haiti might not have qualified for their first Women’s World Cup had it not been for Melchie Dumornay.

She might be only 19, but Durmonay is the greatest player ever produced by the Caribbean country of just 11 million people. She will have an opportunity to prove that this summer.

Dumornay (also known as ‘Corventina’) is such a groundbreaking talent that she could change the Haitian football landscape on her own. This is a country that lacks the infrastructure many other football nations take for granted.

With Dumornay as a trailblazer on the global stage, though, Haitian football’s potential will be showcased. It might be unfair to place such pressure on someone still so young, but the teenager could change everything for her homeland.
